Etienne began skiing when he was 3 years old through the Strider Glider Program in Tahoe City, California. He was very into downhill skiing until he met August Teague who brought him over to Nordic skiing in 2015-2016 and has become one of his best coaches as well as one of his best friends. I still enjoy downhill skiing very much and will do it often enough. He was introduced to biathlon by his best friend Nikolas Burkhart and the coach of Auburn Ski Club Biathlon, former Olympian, Glenn Jobe. Etienne's idols and biggest influencers are his family and friends. From his late father to his brother who is building his own company, writing a book and has created a new nationally ranked team in their home town to his mom who has supported him through everything he has done in his life and has helped guild him through the rough parts. He is inspired by his teammates and friends around him that are accomplishing their dreams in sports and in areas of their own creative passions. So far in his career, Obertilliach, Austria is his favorite venue to race at.
Outside of biathlon, Etienne is very passionate about all aspects of filmmaking from lighting to writing as well as photography. He loves going to races and getting photos of all the racers so they can share their day out on course.
