Army World Class Athlete Program (WCAP)

Deedra started skiing when she was a sophomore in high school for Ashwaubenon Nordic Ski Team to help her stay in shape for her running seasons. After high school she attended Michigan Technological University to study Exercise Science. She ran Cross Country and Track along with competing in Nordic skiing. After college she moved to Ketchum, Idaho, to train with and compete for the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation's XC Gold Team. She raced with them for two seasons before trying biathlon in Lake Placid, NY at the 2017 Talent ID Camp. She then transitioned to biathlon and began training and competing with US Biathlon. Deedra joined the Vermont Army National Guard and completed her Army training throughout the summer of 2019. After working her way through the X-team and B-team she is currently on the US Biathlon National Team and World Cup circuit. In her first race at the Olympic Games (women's 15k individual in Beijing 2022) she turned in the best Olympic finish in U.S. Biathlon history with a 7th place, hitting 19 of 20 targets on the range. Her friend and former teammate, Joanne Reid, is her biggest influencer and how she got into biathlon! Deedra's favorite venue to race at is Hochfilzen (AUT).

Outside of biathlon, Deedra enjoys ski touring, running, hiking, road biking, mountain biking, kayaking, golfing, playing piano, knitting, puzzles, baking, and spending time with my family and friends.
