Sam has been skiing since he could walk. He started biathlon when he was 13 years old, with the coaching of Vlad Cervenka at Mount Itasca. When he is not behind the rifle, Sam enjoys road and mountain biking and running track and cross country. He also enjoys racing Junior National Qualifiers for skiing and taking part in high school ski racing. He loves to travel and would rather be away than at home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Sam’s has competed at one Youth World Championships.
