Grace is the daughter of Ted and Lynne Castonguay with one younger brother, Theo, who is also a biathlete. She got into biathlon because her younger brother had been doing biathlon for much longer than she had, but she had no interest in the sport for such a long time! At the time, she thought Nordic skiing was pretty dumb! But, she finally learned to ski and fell in love with the sport in 2019, and in the fall of 2020, Zach Hall invited her to join a biathlon practice with Team Soldier Hollow. Something about the way he explained the process and routine of shooting made her catch the biathlon bug. She recalls going home that day and telling herself “I want to try to get really good at this.” She began doing biathlon in 2021 at the age of 19. Grace's biggest influencer is Norwegian biathlete Ingrid Tandrevold and her favorite venue to race at is either Pokljuka, Slovenia or Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

Outside of biathlon, Grace enjoys running mountain ridges, climbing, biking, sailing, knitting, spending too much money on artisan coffee, trying not to lose her ability to play the violin, listening to podcasts, puzzling, playing cribbage, lover of cats, occasional baker (but hates to follow recipes & prefer taking creative liberties).
