2025 U.S. World Championships Team
This year’s U.S. team is a healthy mix of veteran athletes and young talent. Campbell Wright will begin the 2025 World Championships wearing the U23 blue bib as he is currently the top U23 male athlete on the World Cup. Already a fourth place finish in Kontiolahti and a ninth place finish in Oberhof this season, Wright has shown his podium potential. Teammate Maxime Germain has turned heads this season, skyrocketing in performance from the start with three top-30 results so far, including a personal best 20th and recent 22nd place in Antholz, ITA. World Cup veteran Deedra Irwin will be heading into her fourth World Championships with solid form and promising results at Roland Arena last season: eighth in the women’s sprint, 21st in the pursuit, and 13th in the mass start. Chloe Levins will also be racing at her fourth World Championship event, coming off a solid few weeks of racing, highlighted by a top-25 finish in the women’s individual at Open European Championships and 16th in the women’s sprint at IBU Cup 6.
Three U.S. women will make their World Championship debut in Lenzerheide. Margie Freed made her World Cup debut last season, showing remarkable progress, highlighted by her 32nd place finish at the Soldier Hollow World Cup in March 2024. Grace Castonguay, also debuting on the World Cup last season, saw her personal best result come this past December in the Annecy pursuit, where she raced to 53rd. Lucinda Anderson started doing biathlon just this past summer. A speedy skier and naturally skilled shooter, Anderson saw immediate success on the IBU Cup with two top-35 and a 21st place finish in Idre Fjall, SWE. Her World Cup debut came just weeks later in Hochfilzen, AUT, and with her World Championship debut ahead, we look forward to seeing what she has in the tank.
Paul Schommer will make his World Championships return coming off a stellar run at IBU Cup 6, racing to two bronze medals in the sprint and pursuit. Rounding out the roster, Sean Doherty and Jake Brown hold the most experience of all team members as Doherty prepares to compete at his ninth World Championships, and Brown gears up for his fifth appearance, both having posted solid top-30 results this season.
What to Expect?
The U.S. men’s relay team has been knocking at the door of a podium since last season’s historic fifth place finish at World Championships and fourth place finish at the 2024 Soldier Hollow World Cup. The American single mixed relay duo of Irwin and Wright had a historic seventh place at the 2025 World Championships. Will the team see flower ceremony (top 6 athletes) finishes? Will the newbies have breakthrough performances? Will this be another historic year for the relay teams? Tune in on Eurovision Sport to find out!
